WIPWednesday: New year, new phone, new project!

Happy New Years, everyone! Hope all of you had a very merry holiday season.

2014 is going to be a pretty kick-ass year. I can feel it in my bones. My 2013 was... well, it wasn't all bad, but it's definitely a book I am happy to close. I'm looking forward to the blank canvass of 2014 that I can see stretching out ahead of me.

The biggest change so far: I have finally joined the twenty-first century and got an iPhone. Yay! So far I'm enjoying it thoroughly. It's a pretty far cry from the thirty-dollar texting phone I was on before.

I'm also FINALLY using my sewing machine. It was a Christmas gift three years ago- sheesh! I kind of figured out the basics a while ago, but I haven't really used it. As a Christmas gift this year my mom got me sewing classes at the local quilting store.  YAY!

I'm making an Amy Butler bag and I'm SO excited. I love the prints I found for this project.

 I haven't actually done any sewing but I've gotten all my cutting done. Of course Groucho had to see what was up...

Caturday: Tommy the Tabby

A few weeks ago I went down to visit a friend who had just moved to LA. I had a fabulous time. We went to The Last Bookstore (which is amaaaaaaziiiiing and I want to live there), Universal City Walk, and Disneyland. It was an epic weekend.

And her roommate has an epic cat, Tommy the Tabby!

It's hard to tell from the photos- but he's MASSIVE. The biggest tabby I've ever seen. I mean, he's kind of chunky in terms of weight, but even without that he's huge.

Time to get ready for work. We got a new movie yesterday (The Spectacular Now- it looks great), and we're showing the 49ers game tomorrow, so it should be a busy weekend!

Egads! Have I really gone a whole week without an update? Oops! This week has flown by. More hours at work, and I spent my two days off crafting like a madwoman. I'll have some photos to show for that soon.

This Caturday I thought I'd share one of my favorite cat webcomics, Cat Versus Human.

I have not yet figured out a schedule for this blog yet; how many updates I'll post each week, which days will cover what topics, et cetera et cetera. It is too soon for me. I need to experiment a little and find my voice.

The exception being Caturday. Because I. Effing. Love. Cats.

I won't be celebrating Caturday in the traditional lolcat fashion (for more on that check out Know Your Meme). Instead I will share things like this photo.

Groucho, Harpo, and Chico were rescue kittens my old roommate found in a box outside of a K-Mart three years ago. I begged my mom to let me take them home... and she said yes! She still has Groucho, and Chico went home with my uncle, but Harpo sadly and suddenly died last year. I can't have cats in my apartment so I have to visit my mom to get my cat fix. Guess where I'll be this afternoon?
